Jade Halley Bartlett‘s Miller’s Girl starring Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman will make its world premiere at the 2024 Palm Springs Film Festival before it hits theaters next month.
The movie marks the writing and directing debut for Bartlett, who wrote the original as a play in 2011 and then adapted it into a screenplay that landed on the 2016 Black List, the annual rundown of Hollywood’s best screenplays that haven’t been produced.
Miller’s Girl will premiere at the festival January 11 and arrive in cinemas beginning Friday, January 26.
Jenna will join Martin Freeman and Jade Halley Bartlett at the festival screening. They will be a part of the fest’s “Talking Pictures” program that features post-screening Q&As with cast and creatives.
Here is the film’s official synopsis:
“A talented young writer (Jenna Ortega as Cairo Sweet) embarks on a creative odyssey when her teacher (Martin Freeman as Jonathan Miller) assigns a project that entangles them both in an increasingly complex web. As lines blur and their lives intertwine, professor and protégé must confront their darkest selves while straining to preserve their individual sense of purpose and the things they hold most dear.”
