Production of Wednesday Season 2 is underway at Ardmore Studios, Co. in Wicklow, Ireland. Once again, Tim Burton will be director and executive producer.
Series creators Alfred Gough and Miles Miller will continue to contribute their writing talents. Millar said “Threats remain out there… to both Wednesday and the school. Not all loose ends have been tied up as neatly as she thinks they have.”
Gough and Millar also said that Wednesday’s relationship with her mother (Catherine Zeta-Jones) might get some more screen time in Season 2, a hint further confirmed with Zeta-Jones, along with Luis Guzmán (father) and Isaac Ordonez (brother), now elevated to series regulars. Jenna, who is now also an executive producer, suggested that the new season would have a stronger emphasis on horror over teen romance. On the red carpet at the Emmys, she said, “I think everything is bigger. It’s a lot more action-packed. I think each episode will probably feel a little bit more like a movie.”
One notable departure from the cast is Percy Hynes White, who played Xavier in Season 1. The most complete explanation for his absence is an article in Forbes which stated:
There has been no reason given by Netflix as to why White isn’t back for season 2. However, in the past year, there have been sexual misconduct allegations made against White on social media. This began with a now-deleted tweet, and White has strenuously denied the allegations and has called it a “campaign of misinformation.”
Also missing from the Season 2 lineup is Romanian actor George Burcea who played the Addams Family butler Lurch in Season 1. Burcea announced he won’t be in Season 2 of Wednesday due to “personal and managing” reasons.
The first chapter in Season 2 will be called, “Here We Woe Again”.
Wednesday Season 2 will likely premiere in the summer of 2025.
